Steam RPG Will Disappear Forever September 14, But You Can Get It Free Now

September 13 will be the last day that Steam users can add a lesser-known turn-based strategy game to their profiles, and if they want to check the game out, they can do so without spending any money. Stone Keepers: King Aurelius is free for anyone who wants to check it out, but they have to do so before the game is delisted on September 14.

Stones Keeper: King Aurelius is a prequel to the original Stones Keeper game, and it being delisted isn't necessarily a negative thing. The developers behind the game have made some serious improvements to the Stones Keeper franchise and feel that Stones Keeper: King Aurelius isn't reflective of the franchise's quality any longer. They're also releasing an updated version of Stones Keeper, titled Stones Keeper: Director's Cut, when Stones Keeper: King Aurelius will be delisted.

September 13 is the last day that Steam users can add Stones Keeper: King Aurelius to their libraries. After that, it will be delisted, which means that Steam users can't play it unless they've already added it to their libraries. The game is completely free at the moment, and adding it to a library won't ever cost any money.

It's a good move for anyone who wants to check the franchise out without committing any money to it, and it will be the last opportunity to get the game before it's gone for good on September 14.

Stones Keeper: King Aurelius is a prequel to Stones Keeper that stars the titular King Aurelius. It's an interesting game in that, in the original Stones Keeper, King Aurelius is already dead. This game sees the player take control of the king through his final days as he leads the Order of the Griffin to take on waves of undead in an attempt to keep his people and his lands safe.

Stones Keeper: Director's Cut Is a Major Improvement

Developer SK Team and publisher the Valkyrie Initiative are both keen to say that "King Aurelius does not reflect the current version of Stones Keeper," and it's easy to see why. Stones Keeper: Director's Cut almost looks like an entirely different franchise. The animation is crisper, fights look more tactile, and enemies look vicious.

Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord is also in production, and it too looks to bring vast improvements to the Stones Keeper franchise. Stones Keeper: King Aurelius might not be reflective of the current version of Stones Keeper, but it's a great way to learn more about the lore of the series before diving back into the Director's Cut on September 14.
